Solid Liberal Origins for Kentucky/Obama Counties

This might cost me some votes, but it's high time we get rid of Leslie County. Lol

If somebody told me that I had to give up one county in Kentucky just so the other 119 counties could live, I'd pick Leslie County to be the first to go.

The racism in Kentucky is so potent, so deep in these bluebloods... open veins, strip mining...

That in 2008, only 8 of Kentucky's 120 counties voted for Obama, and only half of that voted for him in 2012.

In 2008, the prescient, intelligent, progressive counties in Kentucky who voted for Obama (over McCain) were:

1- Jefferson County (Louisville)

2- Fayette County (Lexington)

3- Elliott County

4- Hancock County

5- Henderson County

6- Menifee County

7- Rowan County

AND

8- Wolfe County!

In 2008, there were 8 Kentucky counties, out of 120, that saw what the rest of America saw: that a smart Black man with a funny name can become President... in fact, one of the most productive Presidents in our nation's history.

In 2012, this elite list of 8 dropped down to 4.

Kentucky's foul stench of racism got stronger over Obama's first four years in office.

In 2012, those 4 smart progressive counties in Kentucky were as follows:

1- Jefferson County

2- Fayette County

3- Franklin County (Frankfort)

4- Elliott County

You've got to give it to Elliott County. Two times this Eastern Kentucky county voted for Barack Obama. Jefferson County and Fayette County I kind of expected, since they're major cities (Louisville and Lexington (LFUCG), respectively, since they're county-cities), and then Franklin County, aka Frankfort, finally got their shit together, and voted for the President... mostly because the State Workers didn't want to lose their jobs, and Obama was going to keep them working. But Frankfort changed their minds, and voted for the President... again, just barely.

Instead of punishing Leslie County for their diehard love for Mitt Romney (a whooping 90% of Leslie Countians voted for Mitt Romney... 90%... only 10% for Obama... 10%), maybe we should celebrate Elliott County, and all of it's glory.

The whole... I'm too busy loving folks who love me to give time to my haters, thing.

Elliott County! The place of dreams! God's country! Beautiful hills, gorgeous sweeping sunsets, wonderful people... what a great great place, Elliott County is!

I'd even want to give credit to Hancock, Henderson, Menifee, Rowan, and Wolfe County for being the first “Obama counties”, even if they didn't follow suit in 2012.

I got into an argument with a Letcher Countian who was just badmouthing Obama, and so I defended the President. He's going to be gone in 20 months, and, well, I'm tired of badmouthing him. I'm still 50/50 on him, but I'll focus mostly on that 50% of Obama's legacy that I like...

Why? Because he's done a lot of good since he's been in office.

Fuck Obama on the NDAA, Drone Terrorism, Guantanamo Bay, Wars, Empire, NSA wiretaps, Prison Plantation, Police Brutality, War on Drugs, etc...

But good for Obama on healthcare reform (didn't go far enough), the Lily Ledbetter Act http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lilly_Ledbetter_Fair_Pay_Act_of_2009, FEMA funds to save Kentucky's ass during natural disasters, for not letting America's economy to go to shit, with the Stimulus, and keeping things together. Also, he's transformational, first Black President, and has inspired countless millions all over the world, with just his election.

Obama's domestic social spending policy I support. The oppressive police state and Empire around the world I detest. I've never wavered on this point.

Steve Beshear's and Barack Obama's greatest achievement is the implementation of ObamaCare, aka, Kynect.com for Kentucky. I hated the mandate to buy private insurance, but the overhaul of healthcare was a good thing, doctors and hospitals are being nicer these days, we didn't get anything since the Clinton's failed to get healthcare passed in 1994, and so... it was a step in the right direction.

In fact, the problem I have with ObamaCare is that it didn't go far enough. I wanted Single Payer healthcare. If we're all paying for everybody, then healthcare would be cheaper for all. But at the least, I must have a public option. The government is a player in the free market, and in fact, can be used as a great lever to stabilize the market.

Somerset understood that when they bought a Gas Station. Now, gas gouging has ceased in Somerset.

I'd buy Kentucky Health Insurance provided by the government immediately. It would be the cheapest on the market.

Also, Kentucky should get into the Car and Home Insurance market. Kynect.com should be expanded to include a Kentucky State Government-issued Health Insurance option, as well as a options for Car and Home insurance, and Kynect.com is a strong website to get all of that insurance coverage completed in one place.

The reason for the major pushback to ObamaCare is because it is Obama's signature piece of legislation, and if folks would be okay with repealing ObamaCare, then they're also fine with repealing the other 50 major pieces of legislation Obama has produced... more than any President since Harry Truman.

That's the reason for the outrage and protest of ObamaCare. It's not Nazi Germany coming to establish death panels for your Grandmothers...

That's Matt Bevin, James Comer, Will T., and Hal Heiner... they're promising the Republican primary voters that they'll fuck up your healthcare on Day 1. On Day 1 of their Governorship, they will cut folks off of Medicaid... they will set-up Death Panels, and their appointed bureaucrats will select who gets to keep their healthcare, and who doesn't... who deserves life, and who doesn't... whose worthy... whose not...

Obama just proposed to give Grant monies for displaced Coal Miner workers. Obama wants to give money to rebuild the decapitated mountains decapitated, and he wants money for job training for ex-miners...

Obama wants $1 billion from the federal abandoned mine land fund ( the AML fund) over five years to be used for reclamation projects.

*planting trees on sites left largely barren by surface mining that happened before 1977

*additional $20 million for programs such as job training to help laid-off miners

*an extra $25 million for the Appalachian Regional Commission to help entrepreneurs in areas hit by coal-job losses

*$5 million for communities affected by shut-downs at coal-fired power plants

*$97 million in grants or loans for infrastructure projects in places where changes in the coal industry are causing economic hardship

*distributing $200 million annually among state and tribal areas from the abandoned mine land fund could reverse some of those job losses

*the AML fund was generated by a tax on each ton of coal mined. It is designed to fix problems such as unstable land and damage to water supplies from mining before 1977, when Congress approved new standards for surface mining and reclamation.

*there is $2.48 billion in the AML fund now. Most of the unreclaimed mine land is in Appalachia, including Eastern Kentucky

*The Kentucky Division of Abandoned Mine Lands lists $445 million worth of unfunded projects

*improving water supplies or planting fruit and nut orchards have also been proposed

Obama has also proposed:

*shoring up United Mine Workers of America health and pension funds, including the 1974 UMWA Pension Plan and Trust, which the White House said was underfunded and approaching insolvency.
*that plan covers 100,000 former miners or their widows and families, many of them in Appalachia
*the proposal also has help for retirees who suffered lost or reduced benefits in the 2012 bankruptcy of Patriot Coal Company.

From the 1975 Judicial Bloodbath, the legislature decided to bypass Kentucky's Constitution, and established their own independent, non-accountable... Judicial Branch. It was bragged that Kentucky served as a model for the rest of the nation, when they decided to overhaul their Judicial Branch. I don't know... maybe it helped.

Kentucky takes $1.50 from Obama's federal government for every $1 they/we send to them. If we were to compare Europe to the USA, Kentucky would be Greece: being bailed out by Germany, defaulting on our loans, and then forcing Germany to renegotiate the loan because... what are you going to do? Kick Greece out of the European Union? Well... Greece is on the outskirts of the EU, so that's a possibility, but Kentucky's smab dab in the middle of the nation. Kentucky is the heart and soul of these United States, and this Governor's race is to capture the heart and soul of the Kentucky dream.

Corporations won't save us all.

Kentuckians need to start their own small businesses. We/they need seeding money. We/they need room to start a company, fail, and then start another one... several times.

Good jobs are essential. Only good jobs. Fuck those minimum wage jobs. Let Mississippi take those minimum wage industries. Those crackers don't realize how big of slaves they really.

While I was concerned about the Bangledesh workers and sweatshops there, I can see sweatshop-like conditions coming to Kentucky.

Capitalists do not care that there's 800,000 poor folks in Kentucky. For Capitalism to work best, a poor class must be maintained, in order to compel some lowlife degenerate to do thankless draining crap labor for pennies on the dollar that aristocrats would never lower themselves to ever do... even for themselves. Capitalism wants to pit all of us middle, working, poor, and homeless classes against each other. They want to drain us, exploit us, and if we complain, then they want to fire us, and to have a large pool of poor bodies ready to throw their bodies into the meat grinder.

So Kentuckians need to incorporate themselves. Build themselves up. Build themselves an self-sustaining economic model, to be independent, and autonomous. To not be a tool of Wal-mart, just so Arkansas can make bank off of our poor workers AND shoppers. Instead, to sell our farmwares, to grow organic, to grow specialty crops, to get business booming again... to utilize technology... for folks to try new things, and to keep on trying new things, until breakthroughs happen.

Maybe it's the Catholics' fault. Mother Teresa maintained impoverished conditions in order to maintain the suffering that Christ's people needs to go through... For some folks, maintaining the impoverished conditions also keeps the poor and dumb at the feet of their religious paymasters... “surely my Mama and Papa couldn't be wrong!”

Or maybe... it's the Protestants!

Ky's 1990 KERA

In 1984, Bertram Thomas Combs (Kentucky's 50th Governor, 1960-1964) agreed to represent sixty-six of the state's poor school districts in a lawsuit challenging the state's system of financing public education. The suit, Rose v. Council for Better Education, resulted in the Kentucky Supreme Court declaring the state's entire system of public schools unconstitutional.

In response, the Kentucky General Assembly drafted a sweeping education measure known as the Kentucky Education Reform Act in 1990.

KERA.

Democrat Wallace Wilkinson, Kentucky's 57th Governor, signed KERA into law.

Matt Bevin is running a Southern Strategy campaign. On Common Core

I don't hate Common Core. Common Core, the idea of it, is perfectly fine. The idea of Common Core was that the United States should have a common curriculum all through these 50 nifty united states. This way, 1st graders in Hancock County would be learning the same things as 1st graders were learning in Oregon, or New Hampshire, (Bevin's home), or Alabama (McConnell's home), or Pennsylvania (Rand's home).

I like the idea of Common Core. So far, Kentucky has implemented the English and Math parts of Common Core. So... Kentucky children have standards in Math and English that they have to complete...

Are those who are opposed to Common Core, such as Matt Bevin, opposed to our students learning Math and English? Is that what Matt Bevin and the Republicans are saying?

Also... having standards... that can be good or bad, depending on the standards.

Kentucky led the standards-based movement in America with KERA in 1990.

NCLB wasn't where the standards-based movement came from. The first state to spearhead the standards based movement was Kentucky in 1990 with KERA. I am a product of that KERA education. I don't care for the 100% compliance principle of public education, but I am glad that I can type, and that I grew up around computers so I wasn't terrified of them, as many illiterate old ass Kentuckians are.

Common Core Americanizes Kentucky; it sets our standards up against other state's standards, and no, while we might not like the low test scores coming out, it gives us a ruler to measure, and that gives us a direction of which way we should go...

In your correspondence, you expressed support for the Compassionate Access, Research Expansion, and Respect States (CARERS) Act of 2015 (S. 683) which would amend the federal treatment of marijuana and reschedule it from Schedule I to Schedule II under the Controlled Substances Act.
Kentuckians continue to combat the negative consequences associated with the cultivation and distribution of marijuana in communities across the state. According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, in 2013, approximately 440,000 plants were eradicated in the Commonwealth, over $745,000 worth of assets were seized, and more than 85 weapons were taken off the streets as a result of the marijuana eradication operations. Kentucky carries the dubious distinction of ranking as one of the top marijuana producing states in the nation. Traffickers have been known to trespass on both private and public lands, often resulting in damage to private property and many of the Commonwealth's most cherished natural habitats.

That is why I recently invited Michael Botticelli, Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy, also known as the "Drug Czar," to attend a forum in Northern Kentucky to hear firsthand accounts of the devastating impact of prescription drug and heroin abuse in the Commonwealth. Along with bringing him to the Commonwealth, I continue working to provide law enforcement with the tools and resources they need to combat drug abuse; this effort has included advocating on behalf of several Kentucky counties to ensure their successful inclusion into the Appalachia High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area, which qualifies them for additional federal assistance to combat drug trafficking threats.

There is no doubt that drug abuse persists as a serious problem in all 120 counties of the Commonwealth, and the effects of such abuse have proved devastating for our local communities. Because of the harm that substances like marijuana and other illegal drugs pose to our society, I oppose their legalization. Brereton Jones and House Bill 250 (April 15, 1994)

More Info about Kentucky's Universal Healthcare attempt in 1993, 22 years ago, when I was 11 years old.

When Democratic Governor Brereton Jones was involved in a helicopter accident shortly after taking office, which injured his back and gave him a bruised kidney, he became a fanatic about Universal Healthcare.

“While the legislature acceded to many of Jones' proposals, such as eliminating the practice of denying insurance coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, they did not approve his mandate for universal health care for all Kentuckians.”

“In May 1993, he called the legislature into a special session to consider a universal health care bill.[18] The only measure to come out of this session was a temporary tax on health care providers.[22] Legislators also agreed to work toward a bill that could be passed in the next regular legislative session.[18]”

“On March 2, 1994, the Kentucky House of Representatives passed a health care reform bill that did not include universal coverage. Angered, Jones began campaigning against the bill, but the Kentucky Senate passed its version on March 22.[22]”

Both chambers worked to reconcile differences between their respective versions of the bill, and on April 1, 1994, the last regular day of the legislative session, the Senate passed a compromise bill, but the House killed it on a procedural motion.[22]

On April 15, the last day of the session, which legislators had set aside to override any gubernatorial vetos, the health care bill was reintroduced and passed both houses of the General Assembly.[22] Jones then reversed course and signed it.[21]

Among the reforms included in the bill were

*a mechanism making the policies of all companies uniform and
*the creation of a Health Policy Board to regulate rate increases.[21] It ensured that
*insurance companies could not deny coverage because of a pre-existing condition and allowed workers to retain their insurance after changing jobs

They weakened it, so then Brereton Jones tried to kill the compromised bill, but ended up signing it anyways, thinking that's all he was going to get. It wasn't Universal Healthcare.

BUT now Kentuckians...

*can't be denied HC because of pre-existing conditions
*have portability with their health insurance; Kyians can't lose HC because of changing jobs
*Health Purchasing Alliance;
*uniform policies;
*established Health Policy Board to oversee Kentucky's $10 Billion Healthcare system and regulate rate increases;

Here's the Bluegrass Institute's problems with the Kentucky Health Care Reform Act of 1994:

*A government-sponsored health insurance network, a statewide purchasing alliance with mandatory participation by certain groups.

*A powerful government health care policy board, the Kentucky Health Policy Board (KHPB), with broad regulatory powers that affect both the nature and the practice of medicine in the state of Kentucky.

*Government standardization of health care benefits, including all non-Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) insurance plans and individual policies offered in the state. The Kentucky plan also makes major changes in the qualifications for purchasing insurance.

*New taxes, specifically a "provider tax" on doctors, hospitals, and other health care "providers" ranging from 2 percent to 2.5 percent of the gross revenues of physicians and hospitals. Such taxes, of course, are much like payroll taxes on businesses-invariably passed on to individuals and families in the form of higher health care costs.

*stresses a managed care model. It provides for increased numbers of graduates from family practice programs at the state's two medical schools, an aggressive minority recruitment and scholarship program to achieve "diversity" among family practice residents, and caps on specialist programs.

So here's the real deal, what's going on in Kentucky, and why I'm pissed about it.

There's 7 statewide State Executive races, plus 1 Supreme Court race in Eastern Kentucky, for Will T.'s old seat. And since 5 of the 7 State Executive seats are open seats, this means there's going to be an Electoral Revolution in Kentucky for the year 2015! There was one last year too, just like there's one every 4 years, when every single county position is up for grabs, though most politicians run unopposed...

Just having some knowhow to the matter can win a savvy Kentucky critter a Constable badge. A Constable has all the power of a Sheriff, in their respective district.

There's 7 statewide State Executive races going on, including the Governor's race, a who's who of political boxing matches, where we got to decide who gets to be Mr. Kentucky. Not just like a beauty pageant, but as in King of Kentucky, who has to make decisions about important stuff.

Yeah, so Conway and Co get to interpret these campaign finance laws however they damn well please. There's millions of dollars being flooded into Kentucky's elections from outside PACs, and is the Kentucky Registry of Election Finance doing a goddamned thing about that? Instead... they're fining a working class man, who is putting his last few dollars into this race.

Jesus Christ had an allegory about this. The wealthy could be lavish, and win the respect of lots, by throwing their money around, but it was the homeless old woman who gave a few pennies who Jesus was most impressed with, because she... gave it her all.

Jack Conway is still the Attorney General. Jack Conway can still file charges on Tyler Brockman, and those who murdered Leon Brackens, blatantly, on camera... and then there's that Lexington murder... and that Magoffin murder... and I'm sure, tons more. Clay County has a real issue with police violence. It was the 2nd most important issue to them.

Alison and Edelen are fighting to retain their seats, which they'll no doubt get... don't want to shake up the State too much with all new characters, do you Kentucky?

Unless the GOP turns out to be very Progressive, which I doubt will happen... both Alison Grimes and Adam Edelen have my vote.

Because nobody is on the same page in regards to the law in Kentucky, with the private pocket tyrannical courthouse cliques in all 120 Kentucky counties interpreting the law as they please, the opinion of Jack Conway's is magnified 10-fold. Nobody is on the same page, but when Jack Conway interprets the law, then all 120 County Attorneys probably follow his words to the T... unless they're rogue, which would be good... since it's no measure of good health to be integrated into a sick society.

County Attorneys are paid from Frankfort, so they're beholden to certain interests... plus, there's the child support payment funds that County Attorneys love to get their hands on.

Conway's legal opinion has 120 dittoheads chirping out what Conway just said, because he's the only legal authority Kentucky has. This is why the Judicial System is a mess. Shit runs downhill. Since the top is corrupt, so is the whole barrel.
